The duress panic button is a small, inconspicuous device that is designed to trigger an alarm when activated. This alarm alerts emergency personnel to an event requiring their attention. The device can be hardwired, but wireless systems are available as well.

Commercial Use Cases:

Banking, Retail and Convenience Store industries rely on duress panic buttons to provide employees with an easy way to alert the police to robbery without being detected by criminals. They also provide a discreet, safe way to lock doors or turn on sirens or strobe lights to prevent an attacker from escaping, or to notify staff in other areas of an emergency.

Government facilities, schools and hospitals are also important markets for mobile duress buttons. They can be a valuable safety tool for members of the public, who might be targeted as they walk through the facility, or for healthcare workers and aged care staff who are vulnerable to aggression or violence on- or off-site.

Workplace Violence

As more people have access to firearms in the workplace, duress panic buttons can be a life-saving way for people at risk of workplace violence to alert security and emergency services that help is needed. They can also be used to send information about the incident to first responders, and can be paired with a camera to view events on-site.

Before installing a panic button system, it is vital to develop an action plan for responding to the most severe, unknown and unpredictable situations. It should include a designated person(s) to be in charge of activating the device, and should designate the most appropriate security personnel to respond.
