Personal alarms are an effective way to help your elderly loved ones stay safe at home. They work just like smartphones and come with 24/7 monitoring.

When they press the alarm button, their call centre will contact relatives or emergency services for them. Some systems even include fall detection.

This alarm is a great option for people who need reassurance that help is always at hand. It has automatic fall detection built into the pendant that contacts the home base unit if your loved one falls. This is especially useful as 1 in 3 over 65’s have a fall each year.

When pressed the alarm will connect with your loved ones 24/7 monitoring team who can speak directly to them through the device and work out what type of assistance is required (or simply check in to see that they are okay). They can then arrange this whether it be with a family member, a friend, or even the ambulance service if necessary.

This is also a fully mobile alarm so your loved one can have safety and peace of mind whilst at home, in the garden, at the shops, walking their dog or even on holiday abroad. It is easy to use and comes complete with a waterproof pendant.

Doro Alarm Button

If a fall happens or the elderly person feels unwell, the Doro Alarm Button is designed to connect them with a 24-hour monitoring service. These services are paid for via a monthly subscription which usually starts at PS15 or PS16 per month.

The device comes with a built-in camera and a useful emergency response button. When pressed, this calls the preferred contacts to inform them of the situation and then sends their GPS location to them. The button must be tapped three times or held down for it to work which makes it less likely to accidentally trigger.

Doro is known for its user-friendly smartphones and this particular model is aimed at the elderly market. It features a large screen and big call and hang up buttons which can be found with ease. It also has a handy safety feature that, for an additional monthly fee, shares the senior’s location with up to three emergency contacts.
