In Hinduism, Wisnu or Vishnu is the Supreme God of the Universe. He is the preserver and protector of all living beings, including humanity. He is omnipotent and all-knowing. He is also known as Adi Purusha, or the First Purifier. In addition to protecting and sustaining the universe, he is considered the protector of virtues like truth, peace and compassion. He is the supreme god of love and is adored by followers of Jainism, Hinduism and Sikhism. He is the incarnation of all gods and is worshipped across India and the rest of the world.

According to the Puranas, Wisnu has three main attributes or incarnations: Karanodakasayi, Garbhodakasayi and Ksirodakasayi. These incarnations represent the different facets of his existence in this universe: Karanodakasayi (Maha Vishnu) is depicted as the chariot-driver of Lord Rama during his battle with Ravana; Garbhodakasayi is shown as the Lord of all crocodiles; and Ksirodakasayi (Roh utama) represents the all-powerful and unconquerable Lord of the Universe, the king of all atoms.

The cult of Vishnu is central to a number of Hindu sects, most notably the dvaita and advaita branches of Hinduism. The advaita branch of Hinduism considers Wisnu to be the ultimate reality and the supreme being. The dvaita branch of Hinduism considers Rama and Krishna to be the incarnations of Vishnu. The shatranjali or trikarna of advaita is the belief that there are three eternal principles or triads: prakriti or matter, shakti or energy and atman or soul. The shatranjali also asserts that all these principles are interdependent and form a complete unity.

The Hindu god Vishnu is believed to have taken ten different forms or avatars in the course of history, which is called the Arcavatara or incarnation cycle. These incarnations include: a fish to kill the giant Hargragiwa who stole the Vedas; as Narasingha or a human with a tiger head to destroy Hiranyakashipu; as Ditya Bali to destroy gandarwa; as Srimaharaja Kanwa to protect his kingdom; as Sri Maharaja Matsya in Central Java; and as Pandavas parampara to defeat the Kauravas. He is also believed to have incarnated as a cow to protect the milk of his wife, the goddess Lakshmi; and as an elephant for protection in the form of a tiger. He is also seen as the protector of all animals and birds in Hinduism. He is also regarded as the guardian deity of the oceans and rivers. Moreover, wisnu 123 is the ruler of the sun and moon. This is reflected in the name of his shrine, the Varuna Caves. This temple is one of the most important in Bali, Indonesia. The stunning Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) statue — one of the island's most famous cultural icons — is dedicated to him. It is located at the GWK Cultural Park. This park also houses the GWK Museum and other impressive attractions. The GWK statue is the most prominent feature of this spectacular cultural park and has become a symbol of Bali for many visitors.
